The Sindh government is set to change the student grading system. Starting in 2025, the numerical system will be replaced by a new grading approach to provide a more comprehensive evaluation of student performance, according to ARY News.

Developed by the Inter-Board Coordination Committee (IBCC), the new system will replace marks with grades. Here’s how it works:

  • A++ (Exceptional): 95% and above
  • A+ (Outstanding): 90-94%
  • A (Excellent): 85-89%
  • B++ (Very Good): 80-84%
  • B+ (Good): 75-79%
  • B (Fairly Good): 70-74%
  • C (Above Average): 60-69%
  • D (Average): 50-59%
  • E (Below Average): 40-49%
  • U (Unsatisfactory): Below 40%

In this system, first, second, or third positions will no longer exist. Instead, it focuses on providing a more detailed assessment of students’ knowledge and performance.

Key Changes:

  • Passing marks will increase from 33% to 40%.
  • The ‘F’ (Fail) grade will be replaced by ‘U’ (Unsatisfactory).

Sindh is the first province to implement this new grading system, while Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan have yet to make the switch. This change aims to provide a fairer representation of student abilities, helping both students and educators identify strengths and areas for improvement.
