Meta-owned WhatsApp has added a new feature to help users improve video calls in low-light conditions. This low-light mode adjusts lighting automatically, ensuring your face appears clearer during video chats, even in dim surroundings.
The feature brightens the video for better visibility, making your conversations feel smoother and more comfortable.
How to Enable Low-Light Mode on WhatsApp
- Open WhatsApp on your phone.
- Select a contact and start a video call.
- Make sure your screen is in full-screen mode.
- Tap the ‘Bulb’ icon at the bottom of the screen.
- Your video will brighten up for better illumination.
- To disable it, tap the ‘Bulb’ icon again.
This new feature is available on iOS and Android, but it has not yet rolled out to the web app.
Other WhatsApp Updates
In addition to low-light mode, WhatsApp has introduced new playback controls for iOS users. These controls allow users to speed up video playback for a faster viewing experience. You can read more about it here: WhatsApp Rolls Out New Playback Controls for iOS Users.
Now, when watching long videos, users can choose between normal, 1.5x, or 2.0x playback speeds. This helps save time by speeding up video content without missing key details.
These playback controls and the low-light mode are part of WhatsApp’s ongoing efforts to make communication more efficient and enjoyable for users.
