The Family Registration Certificate (FRC) is an essential document for every family in Pakistan. It outlines the members of your family, including your spouse and children. Nadra has now made the process of obtaining an FRC easier and quicker. This article will guide you through the process and explain why having an FRC is so important.

What is a Nadra Family Registration Certificate (FRC)?

An FRC is a document that records the composition of your family. It includes the names of the head of the family, the spouse, and the children. This document is crucial for many legal and official processes. It proves your family relationships, which might be needed when dealing with government agencies, schools, or banks.

Types of Family Registration Certificates (FRC)

You can apply for an FRC in three different ways depending on your family situation:

  1. By Birth: If you were born in Pakistan, this certificate will include details about your parents and siblings.
  2. By Marriage: If you are married, this certificate will show information about your spouse and children.
  3. By Adoption: If you were adopted, this certificate will provide details about your legal guardian.

It’s important to note that only people registered in NADRA with a 13-digit ID number will be included in the FRC. If someone in your family is not registered, their information won’t appear.

Documents Required for FRC Application

To successfully apply for an FRC, you will need the following documents:

  1. CNIC/NICOP/POC of Family Members
You must provide the Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC), National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP), or Pakistan Origin Card (POC) of your parents, siblings, spouse, or child. These documents help verify the identity and familial relationship of each member listed on the FRC.
  2. Child Registration Certificate (CRC) and Photographs
For family members who are under 18 years old, you will need their Child Registration Certificate (CRC) and recent passport-sized photographs. The CRC serves as an official record of their birth and parentage.

How to Apply for an NADRA FRC Certificate

There are two main ways to apply for your FRC:

  1. NADRA Registration Center (NRC): You can visit any nearby NADRA Registration Center in Pakistan to apply for your FRC.
  2. Online (Pak-Identity Website): For more convenience, you can also apply online by visiting the Pak-Identity website.

For Overseas Pakistanis, you can visit the nearest Pakistani mission office abroad, such as an embassy or consulate, to apply for your FRC.

Steps to Obtain an FRC at an NRC

If you choose to visit an NRC, here are the steps you will follow:

  1. Get a Token: When you arrive, you will be given a token to start the process.
  2. Photos of Children: Photos of all minors in your family will be taken.
  3. Review Your Data: Your family’s details will be entered into the system, and you will review the information to ensure it is correct.
  4. Print Your FRC: Once everything is verified, your FRC will be printed and handed to you.

For families with children who are 18 years old or older, the process is the same. You will get a token, review your data, and then receive your FRC.

FRC Fees as of September 2024

As of September 2024, the fee for the Family Registration Certificate remains unchanged:

  • Normal Fee: Rs 1,000
  • Executive Fee: Rs 1,000

This information comes directly from NADRA’s official website, and there have been no recent changes to the fee structure.

Why You Need a Family Registration Certificate (FRC)

A Family Registration Certificate (FRC) is crucial because it officially documents your family relationships.

This certificate is often required for important legal and official processes, such as enrolling children in school, applying for visas, or proving your family status in various situations.

By having an FRC, you ensure that your family’s details are recognized and verified by the government, making it an essential document for every household.

Procedure for a Divorced Woman to Obtain an FRC

  1. Update Marital Status:
    • Before applying for an FRC, the divorced woman must first update her marital status in NADRA’s records. This requires submitting the original divorce decree (Talaq Nama) issued by a court or relevant authority.
  2. Visit a NADRA Registration Center (NRC):
    • After updating her marital status, the woman should visit a NADRA Registration Center. She will need to bring her CNIC (Computerized National Identity Card), the updated marital status information, and other relevant documents such as her children’s B-Forms, if applicable.
  3. Application Process:
    • At the NRC, the woman can apply for the FRC by filling out the necessary application forms. The FRC will reflect her new marital status, listing her as divorced and showing her family details without the ex-spouse’s name.
  4. Online Application (Optional):
    • Alternatively, the FRC can also be applied for online through the NADRA Pak-Identity portal, provided her marital status has been updated in the NADRA system. The required documents can be scanned and uploaded as part of the online application process.
  5. Fee Payment:
    • A fee is required to process the FRC application. The fee can be paid at the NRC or through online payment methods if applying via the Pak-Identity portal.
  6. Collection of FRC:
    • Once the application is processed, the FRC can be collected from the NADRA office or, if applied for online, it can be delivered to the applicant’s home.

Important Points:

  • It is crucial that all information, including the divorce, is properly updated in NADRA’s records before applying for the FRC to avoid any discrepancies.
  • The FRC for a divorced woman will only include her and her children, excluding the ex-husband.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Family Registration Certificate (FRC) is an important document for all families. Nadra has simplified the process, making it easy for you to apply for and receive your FRC. Whether you choose to visit an NRC or apply online, the steps are straightforward. With the updated fee of Rs1,000, getting an FRC is affordable and essential for many official processes. Make sure your family has this important document today.
