The Sindh government has introduced a new rule to make vehicle registration and transfers safer. Now, anyone who wants to register or transfer a car in Sindh will need to go through biometric verification. This means that your identity will be checked using a fingerprint or another secure method.

Sindh’s Excise Minister, Sharjeel Inam Memon, explained that the plan will roll out in three phases.

Starting on July 1st, biometric verification will be required when registering new vehicles. Then, beginning November 1st, it will also be necessary for anyone buying a vehicle. In the third phase, both the person buying and the person selling a vehicle will need to complete the biometric verification.

This new system is being put in place to increase transparency and prevent fraud in vehicle transfers. People can complete their biometric verification at NADRA centers or their local excise offices.

Minister Memon shared that this is just the start of changes to modernize the Excise Department. He has already made it possible to register vehicles at showrooms and plans to begin issuing premium number plates as part of a fundraiser to support flood victims.

This new rule aims to make vehicle registrations and transfers much safer and more transparent for everyone.
